The Tax Authorities (Belastingdienst) You can apply for your VAT ID via the Tax Authorities. Applying for a VAT ID via the Tax Authorities is free of charge. You do this by fully completing the ‘Opgaaf Startende Onderneming’ (Statement of Starting Business) document and sending it by post to the Tax Authorities. You will receive your VAT ID within approximately two weeks.

Tip: We notice that the Tax Authorities sometimes lose forms. Have you not heard anything after two weeks? Then contact the Tax Authorities to check if your form has been received.

Chamber of Commerce (KvK) When you register yourself at the Chamber of Commerce, you are officially registered in the trade register. You will then receive a VAT ID and a KvK number.
Step-by-step plan for KvK application:
Go to the website of the KvK.
Choose as legal form: Sole proprietorship (Eenmanszaak).
Fill in the digital registration form.
Make an appointment at a branch of your choice.
Complete the registration. Congratulations! You are now your own boss.
Keep in mind that a one-time fee of €82.25 will be charged for your registration at the KvK.
