There are two options of how to apply for a VAT ID (btw-ID). Are you hesitating which option is best for you? Then read the differences here.
You can apply for a VAT-ID at:
Tax Authorities (Belastingdienst) | You can apply for your VAT ID through the Tax Authorities. You can submit the application by filling out the document 'Opgaaf Startende Onderneming' (only in Dutch). The application should be sent by post, and you will receive your VAT ID within two weeks.
Do you still find this difficult? Fill in this document! Then we will check the application one more time for you! If the application is rejected, you will receive an email with what you still need to change. As soon as the application is approved, we will send it to the Tax Authorities for you.
Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) | When you register at the Chamber of Commerce, you are officially registered in the trade register. You will receive a VAT ID and a Chamber of Commerce number.
Read the steps below on how to apply for registration at the Chamber of Commerce:
Step 1 | Go to this page of the Chamber of Commerce register.
Step 2 | Complete the digital registration form.
Step 3 | Make an appointment at the branch of your choice.
Step 4 | Complete the registration.
Step 5 | Congratulations! You are now your own boss.
